Kajari Melon "... .Also known as Delhi Melon, this rare and stunning specimen comes from India.....Highly fragrant, and very colored copper-reds, yellows and greens with a sweet green honeydew flesh. Open pollinated. 2-3 lbs. The melon turns from a dark green with light stripes to a beautiful orange..... Has a Long shelf life...... This is a rare and unusual melon from India, and is believed to have originated in the Punjab region a stunning melon with real color that's making it a real eye catcher in the garden and at farmers markets. The flesh is a medium green to light yellow with a taste very similar to a honeydew with a hint of summer apple..... Any unripe melons can be picked after the first frost and they will continue to ripen in storage, good production, short growing season, 60-70 days seeds to fruit....Each plant will produce from 6-9 melons......The orange stripes appear as the melons ripen and the fruit will slip from the stem when fully ripe....Fun Facts: Kajari is a variety of Melon which is a member of the Cucumbis family. Its botanical name is Cucumbis melon 'Kajari'. Kajari is a heirloom variety.....they grow on a good vine and like the cover a tall Trellis, Ours did well in the shade more than the sun.....also can be grown in rows a few feet apart...a rare one for sure.....
