It has a very ancient history with its origins that are unknown... Evidence shows that it was cultivated as far back as 4000 years ago.... This plant grows beautiful leaves, which unfortunately look too much alike, the marijuana plant..... there have been instances in which the authorities have made some blunders by raiding crops of Hibiscus Cannibinus Kanaf ( No-THC)plant can grow very fast and can reach 12 - 18 feet. It produces very beautiful yellow flowers, with evergreen leaves. The flowers have both female and male organs (hermaphrodite)....Hibiscus cannabinus Kenaf is indeed a very useful plant. The flowers, leaves, seeds and roots are used in variety of ways. The leaves and roots are edible, and they are used along with the seeds in herbal medicine for the treatment and for soaps and lotions, .. Seeds are ground into a fine flour are used to bake cakes...and the plant is best known for commercial production of paper, ropes and fabrics......The juice of the flowers, mixed with sugar and black pepper, is used in the treatment of biliousness with acidity. The seeds are aphrodisiac. They are added to the diet in order to promote weight increase. Externally, they are used as a poultice on pains and bruises. The leaves are purgative. An infusion of the leaves is used in the treatment of coughs. In Ayurvedic medicine, the leaves are used in the treatment of dysentery and bilious, blood and throat disorders. The powdered leaves are applied to Guinea worms in Africa. The peelings from the stems have been used in the treatment of anaemia, fatigue, lassitude .........This case of mistaken identity to marijuana......
